Melanie and Scott got married! They had their wedding at Cragun’s Resort in Brainerd, MN.Β These two included their family into the wedding: Melanie’s brother officiated, her cousins created all of their signs, one cousin sang during the ceremony, Melanie’s mom createdΒ the playlist for the DJ, Melanie’s uncle was the videographer, and so forth! For the reception, the couple was looking forward most to their fish fry- they caught all of the fish themselves!Β A special ceremony detail is that the couple is doing a bonsai planting ceremony instead of a unity candle or sand ceremony. Since they are a military family and constantly moving, they wanted to be able to bring the plant with them wherever they go. Each of their moms brought soil from their hometowns to plant with the bonsai. “It’s a great representation of two people coming from opposite sides of the country and starting a new life together,” says Melanie. Rewind to the summer of 2013- Scott had just finished up a two-year stint in Japan and Melanie had completed her M.A. degree. They were both living in San Diego at the time. Scott and his friends went to Hooley’s Irish Pub. They were dressed up and the group of sailors approached Melanie and her friend, Lauren. Scott and Melanie’s first impressions: Melanie thought he was a typical sailor and Scott thought Melanie was a bit of an “airhead.” They went their separate ways and ended up seeing each other at parties and concerts.Β One night, Scott, Melanie, and some mutual friends were heading to The Zac Brown Band. Their friends thought it would be funny to have Scott and Melanie drive together, just the two of them, in a truck. It’s a good thing they did because these two hit it off and eventually fell in love! Jump to September of 2014! Scott had made chief six weeks prior so they were headed to the Navy Khaki Ball! Before the ceremony, Melanie was brushing her teeth in the hotel room. She turned to say something to Scott and he was down on one knee. As Melanie puts it, “Nothing more flattering than saying yes with a mouthful of toothpaste.” Vendor Venue: Cragun’s Resort Florist: Saffron & Grey Hair/Makeup: Tracy withΒ Captivating Beauty DJ: Nightlife Entertainment DJ Photo Booth: Wed Phoria Bridal Gown: Francine by Maggie Sottero from Bridal & Veil Are you engaged and looking for an engagement photographer and wedding photographer in Minnesota?
