Duluth Minnesota Tent Wedding with Garden Inspiration
Donny and Carolin met back in 2015 in Berlin. They dated long distant for a year before Carolin moved to San Francisco to be with him. They were engaged on New Years’ Eve 2019 on Catalina Island at sunrise and married at San Francisco City Hall two weeks later in a small ceremony with six guests. Soon after they began planning their Duluth Minnesota tent wedding next to the Glensheen Mansion.
Hiring a local planner was a must when they began planning their Minnesota destination wedding in Duluth, Minnesota. Jenna Culley Events executed all their wishes from a sailcloth tent set up to personalized gift bags for all their guests. Carolin and Donny are passionate about traveling to different countries and exploring new cultures and food. They spend a couple of months in Europe yearly and reside in Washington. Carolin and Donny have collected many friends worldwide, so they had people joining the celebration from far and wide. They made unique name tags for their guest with a personal tagline they came up with for each of their friends and family. They thought it would be a fun personal touch and an icebreaker for guests.
Wedding Traditions
They were married at the church Donny’s parents and grandparents both were married at, St. Paul’s Church in Duluth. Donny’s grandparents were married for 67 years before his grandpa passed in 2016. Carolin gifted Donny cufflinks with a picture of his grandpa holding him as a baby and a quote from his grandpa at their first look. Donny’s parents have been married for over 40 years.
The reception took place at the Glensheen Mansion, down the street from Donny’s grandma’s house, which has always been the meeting point for the whole family. So it’s a very special place for the entire family on Lake Superior and a time capsule of memories. Donny’s nana and matriarch of the family, Ann, was even friends with the lady who used to own the Glensheen Mansion.
Garden Party Wedding Inspiration
They envisioned their wedding as a beautiful garden affair with fantastic live music bringing together our families and friends worldwide joining together for their Duluth Minnesota tent wedding. Carolin’s grandparents visited the US for the very first time. Carolin was born in the GDR in 1989, 6 months before the Berlin Wall fell. So bringing together their families from the former East and West meant a lot to them. Carolin’s Opa is a beekeeper. So she had a vision of a variety of garden flowers. Jamie with Wilderland Floral created a beautiful floral installation above the dance floor, at the couple’s sweetheart table, for the cake display, and each table was adorned with garden floral bouquets.
