Margaret and Rob tied the knot! Congratulations you two! These two had their wedding ceremony at Church of St. Matthew followed by a reception at Harriet Island Pavilion in Saint Paul, MN! When planning the wedding, it was important to them to have their venue close to the Mississippi River. When they discovered Harriet Island Pavilion, they knew it was theΒ perfect wedding reception venue! To match the natural beauty of the area, the couple chose a simple color scheme of green, champagne, and charcoal. The couple decided to do some DIY wedding projects and created all of their centerpieces out of trees from the bride’s parents’ property. They also did DIY floral for the bouquets, floral centerpieces, and boutonnieres! One of my favorite parts of this wedding is how they incorporated traditional Nigerian elements into their reception! Check out the photos toΒ see a Nigerian money dance! Instead of guests handing money for a dance, the guests approach the couple and spray them with small bills as everyone dances. I also absolutely loved that this couple had a food truck at the reception! So much fun! Margaret and Rob grew up in the same town (which is really close to where my studio is!) but didn’t actually meet until spring of 2010. Margaret attended a house party hosted by aΒ mutual friend of Rob’s and Margaret’s brother. Rob and Margaret met at the party, shared a dance, and then didn’t see each other the rest of the night. Over the course of the next two months, they ran into each other several more times. Margaret decided it was time for them to have a date so she sent Rob a Facebook message asking him out since she didn’t have his phone number. The following weekend, they had their first date at Rob’s house (shared with several other guys who were all home that night). They watched a movie and since that night, they have not gone a day without talking to each other. In April of 2015, Margaret flew out to California to participate in Ragnar, a running relay event. They decided it would be fun to have Rob drive from St. Paul to San Diego so they could road trip home together. They went from California to Las Vegas then to Utah. While in Utah, they visited Zion National Park where they hiked to Observation Point (one of the highest points in the park). While Margaret was admiring the view, Rob set up a tripod. They took a few photos of them overlooking the canyon. Then Rob said, “Now this time make a bad ass pose.” Not knowing what that meant, Margaret struck a pose flexing her arms and then she realized Rob wasn’t next to her. She looked over to see him down on one knee, holding a ring. Thanks to the tripod, they were able to capture the moment!
