Courtney and Doug met all the way back in the fourth grade! They were introduced by Courtney’s best friend (and one of the bridesmaids) Katelyn, who was also Doug’s neighbor. Courtney and Doug were best friends growing up and dated a few times throughout their school days but eventually drifted apart when Courtney went to college in Duluth. At her sister’s wedding, Courtney knew she had to see him again and sent him a text. From there, the two started dating and it eventually led to October 27th of 2016. Courtney was on fall break from college and Doug took her to dinner. They drove to the Maple Grove band shell, a placed filled with fun memories for the two. They walked down to the shell and Doug gave Courtney a small speech that ended with him on one knee. Of course, she said yes!
For their big day, they wanted an Art Deco/ Great Gatsby themed wedding. They chose Historic Concord Exchange in South St. Paul because the venue is over 100 years old and they could picture themselves “partying like Gatsby” in the former nightclub venue. They wanted their wedding to be an endless night of partying and celebrating and they definitely achieved that! They even had a signature drink of Arnold Palmer and Captain Morgan for their unity ceremony to kick off the fun atmosphere! One of my favorite things about the night was that the couple had cheesecakes from Muddy Paws Cheesecake! So yummy!!
