Congratulations, Janie and Nick! They had a beautiful Ohio wedding at theΒ The Carriage House-ManorΒ House. I was so honored to photograph Janie, one of my good friends, and Nick’s wedding. These two have quite the love story! They met back in 2009 in France. Janie was teaching English in Nancy, France and became friends with Lauren, who was teaching in the same region. Lauren’s now-husband, Chris, and his twin brother, Nick, took a work-related trip to Monaco in December and planned to meet up with Lauren in Lyon, France. Lauren invited Janie to join them and the four of them spent time together in Lyon. After Lauren and Janie finished the year in France, Janie was accepted into a Master’s program in Bowling Green, Ohio. She visited Lauren frequently, but pretty soon, she was going to visit Nick. By the summer of 2010, Nick and Janie began datingΒ and one December, Nick decided it was time to pop the question. The couple has a Christmas tree tradition where they pick out a tree from a local tree farm. They bring the tree home, turn on some music and start decorating the tree. Once the finished the tree decorating, they sat in front of the tree and drank eggnogg. Janie went to turn off the lights and when returned to her chair. They talked for a minute, and then Nick asked, “What is that?” He was pointing at the tree. Janie noticed a ribbon hanging on the tree and thought an ornament broke. She went closer to investigate. That’s when she realized it wasn’t a broken ornament, but a ribbon with an engagement ring on it! As Janie puts it, “Once I realized it was I ring, my hands flew to my mouth and tears came to my eyes. We stood up, only for him to get down on one knee, say sweet things, and ask me to marry him! I said yes, we cried and kissed, and then he took the ring off the tree and put it on my finger!” Six years and one month after they met in Lyon, Nick and Janie got married! Since the couple met in the winter and got engaged in the winter, they decided to have a winter wedding. The couple fell in love with the venue’s stone fireplace, hardwood floor, and wood chairs. Some special details about the wedding include: the bride’s bouquet being wrapped with pieces of lace from both her late mother and mother-in-law, the bride wore her mother’s ring on her right hand, and the bride’s necklace is a family heirloom.
