I got 99 problems but hair ain’t one! Well, that’s true when you have Heidi with 139 Hair by Heidi taking care of your bridal updo! Heidi is a dear friend and a talented event hair stylist. I have photographed many weddings and styled shoots where Heidi handled the hair. Let me tell you guys right now- she knows how to keep your hair looking amazing ALL DAY LONG! This fabulous lady can achieve any look you desire whether it’s all up, half up, all down, braids, extensions, blowouts, French twists, beachy waves, soft curls, buns, or anything else- you name it, she can do it! That’s why I had to talk wedding hair with Heidi and let you all get to know her a little bit more!Β
What inspired you to become a hairstylist?
Heidi: I started doing my Barbie doll’s hair when I was a little girl, desperately trying to twist their tiny strands into an updo! I learned to braid and style my other dolls. I also made my younger sister play “salon” with me so I could pretend to be her stylist. Fast forward to high school. I was the go-to formal dance hairstylist, giving everyone updos before prom and homecoming. I was also secretly cutting my best friend’s hair in her basement and hiding the hair from her mom! As I became an adult, pursued advanced education, and tried multiple careers- it all kept coming back to hair! I’ve always loved it!
What is your go-to hair product?Β
What is your current favorite wedding hair trend?Β
Heidi: I love twists and braids! They were “out” for a while, and they’ve come back way better than before. I love the loose, boho style that looks so romantic and pretty!
On the wedding morning, how should brides prep their hair for styling?Β
Heidi: This totally depends on the bride’s hair type! Some brides will need a fresh wash and blow dry. Others can be a day or two old. Others may need a pro blow out before the big day. After your trial run, your stylist will be able to tell you exactly how to prep your hair.
What is your best tip for brides as they consider wedding hairstyles?
Heidi: Find styles that you love and styles that you don’t love. It’s really helpful to figure out what you like by ruling out things you don’t. You also want to consider your dress style and the accessories that you are hoping to have, like a veil or comb. Think about your wedding hairstyles in light of everything else in your wedding, and the vision will come!
Anything else you want to add?Β
Heidi: I LOVE doing wedding hair! I don’t work in a salon, I don’t cut or color or do anything aside from updos! I’m so passionate about making brides feel and look beautiful on their wedding days. It’s such an honor to be invited into such an important part of someone’s life.
Also- I LOVE working with Jeannine Marie Photography! She’s so much fun to be with, and I adore her photography skills!
