Ian and Kelsey have known each other since they were 12! They both grew up in Red Wing, MN and were friends growing up. In high school, they started dating (as Kelsey puts it, they were each other’s “first loves”) and then went their separate ways for college. After college, they both found themselves back in Minnesota and fell in love all over again. Ian proposed to Kelsey at the Lake Harriet bandshell in December of 2014. It was a gorgeous winter night and their puppy and both of their parents were hiding out nearby.
They decided to have a fall wedding at Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis, MN because Kelsey’s wedding vision was a “romantic fall wedding.” Their wedding included sentimental family details (parents’ and grandparents’ wedding photos, photos of Kelsey and Ian when they were younger, and Kelsey gave Ian a family heirloom-her grandfather’s pocket watch as a wedding gift). They also did a lot of DIY decor. As Kelsey says, “My mom is the DIY queen! She is creating the entire event decor ranging from antique chalkboard signs, floral centerpieces, vintage books, candles, and the list goes on!” Mother of the Bride Wedding Design did a wonderful job with planning and helping Kelsey and Ian put together this beautiful day!
