10 Favorite Wedding Couple Portrait Poses

Throughout the day, I capture all the big moments of your wedding. But one of my favorite parts is when I get to step aside with just the couple for portraits. These are the quiet, joyful moments where it’s just the two of you and I can photograph you in a way that’s unique to who you are as a couple. Wedding couple portraits are so much more than smiling for the camera – they’re about showcasing your love story and the magic of your day. While these moments are mostly fueled by your laughter, passion, and love, I also provide gentle direction to ensure poses feel natural and look flattering behind the lens. Here are ten of my favorite wedding couple portrait poses that will truly capture you and your partner in a way that looks as good as you feel!

PORTRAIT POSING TIPS

Of course, I will guide you every step of the way, but here are a few posing tips that help improve every photo:

  • Lean slightly towards the camera
  • Gently arch your back and relax your shoulders
  • If not touching your partner or holding a bouquet, have your hand on your hip or in your pocket
  • Communicate with your photographer:
    • Your favorite physical features of your partner, as well as your favorite ways your partner loves you out loud such as forehead kisses or hugs from behind
    • If you have a preferred “good side” or any insecurities that you’d like your photographer to consider when posing you

We hope this gives you a sense of what to expect for your wedding day portraits and how to feel at ease in front of the camera. I’ll bring jokes, dance moves, and fun prompts to make you laugh, connect, and enjoy the moment so we can capture the natural smiles, joy, and all the little warm, fuzzy moments of your day.
