Elizabeth and David had their outdoor, Lumberjack themed wedding at Camp Thunderbird in Bemidji, MN. Elizabeth’s grandparents started the summer camp and it is Elizabeth’s favorite place in the entire world. Elizabeth and David met on Tinder when they both lived in Missouri. After their first date, they spent many Sundays going to brunch, nights seeing bands like Punch Brothers, and their weekday evenings making dinner together. After getting approval from Elizabeth’s dogs Millie and Gideon, David moved in! Eventually, the couple later found themselves moving together to Washington D.C. Despite their relocations, Elizabeth always enjoys going back to Camp Thunderbird. During one specific camping trip to Camp Thunderbird, Elizabeth and David got stuck at the DCA Airport due to dicy weather. David frantically began asking how to get to Minneapolis that evening, and Elizabeth was able to book a flight from Baltimore. After a long day of traveling, they finally reached Minnesota and arrived to Camp Thunderbird. As the sun was setting, there was a double rainbow in the sky. David chose this moment to pop the question and of course, Elizabeth said yes!
When planning their wedding, Elizabeth and David knew Camp Thunderbird was the perfect place to say “I do.” Their Jewish Christian ceremony was officiated by a rabbi and a minister in the middle of the woods under a chuppah that was made from Elizabeth’s grandmother’s tablecloth, as well as pieces from both David and Elizabeth’s childhood “blankeys.” After the ceremony, the couple jumped in a canoe to revisit the spot where David proposed while their guests walked the shoreline to theΒ tent reception. In ode to the woodsy, campy atmosphere of the venue, the couple chose to have a Lumberjack theme. They gave a nod to Paul Bunyan by including red plaid throughout the wedding day. The couple also loves live music and decided to have a band at the reception party. The Lost Walleye Orchestra, a Mankato bluegrass band, set the tone for a great night of dancing in the woods! Thanks, Elizabeth and David, for letting me photograph your big day!
