Therese and Mike met at UW-Madison their senior year as next-door neighbors! After graduating, Therese stayed at Madison to get her master’s degree while Mike got a job that was 100% travel. This scenario worked well for both of them. Therese could focus on her school during the week before Mike flew back to Madison on the weekends. After Therese graduated with her master’s, she moved up to the Twin Cities, and Mike found a job that did not include any travel.

Mike and Therese got engaged in October 2020 at Sovereign Estate Winery in Waconia, MN! While walking up and down the beautiful vineyards, Mike got down on one knee and asked Therese to marry him. It was a gorgeous 70-degree fall day, and they had a fantastic evening enjoying their time at the winery and celebrating together.

They loved the rustic feel of The Loft at Studio J with modern updates. Both of them love spending time in the outdoors and value nature, so this venue felt like a great fit with all the recycled wood and outdoorsy lighting. They didn’t stress over the little details, such as favors and centerpieces but wanted to enjoy the day with their friends and family and keep things simple. Since they both enjoy camping, canoeing, paddle boarding, biking, etc, they had two canoe paddles that guests can signed as they walked in the front door.
