Towards the beginning of the year, Jenna with Jenna Culley Events and I began discussing an art-themed styled shoot concept with a vibrant color scheme, beautiful details, and an opportunity to feature diverse couples. Due to 2020 being, wellβ¦2020β¦we had to reschedule multiple times and even change venues. We finally had all of the pieces come together with a wonderfully talented vendor team and two fabulous couples at Venu Mpls.
Unfortunately, the night before this styled shoot, I lost my taste. I used to think the only way I would miss a photography commitment was if I got hit by a bus, but 2020 has significantly changed that mentality and has reminded me how amazing the Twin Cities photography community truly is. I am eternally grateful to know some of the best local photographers through conferences, collaborations, and mentoring. When I lost my taste, I took every necessary precaution and reached out to a handful of fellow photographers to take my place at this styled shoot. Without hesitation, Josh with J. Olson Weddings agreed to jump in for me. A big thank you to him for taking these photos for me so we wouldnβt have to postpone this work of art any longer! And thank you to Jesse with Mast Wedding Films for videographing the day!
Art-Inspired Wedding Concept
Jenna Culley Events organized this artistic team of vendors to dream up this magenta and gold art-themed wedding. The vision began with the idea of incorporating artwork into wedding dΓ©cor. The Venu Mpls, a new Minneapolis event space, was the perfect venue to bring this concept to life with their beautiful brick walls and tall ceilings.
Since the concept was centered around art, we needed actual artwork to inspire the rest of the details. Leah Gangl, a local artist, created canvases that could be utilized as a ceremony backdrop and throughout the venue’s space, as well as for signage. Jamie with Wilderland Floral then designed floral pieces that were unique pieces of art themselves while still complementing the canvases.Β
The Style
The artwork didnβt stop with just the details! The dresses and accessories also needed to be glammed up but also a little edgy. Jill with Brides of France fulfilled the vision! The capes for the dresses were art themselves! 139 Hair by Heidi and Ziel Bridal completed our modelsβ looks. A big shout-out to both of our couples!
Bride & Groom Models
Our bride and groom couple were Janine and Daniel, who are both aspiring models. Theyβre currently just dating, but at least they now know they sure do look good together as a bride and groom!
Bride & Bride Models
Our bride and bride couple were Jona and Hannah, who met online about a year and a half ago. They became official a few months after meeting and although their first few months together were filled with hardships, they stuck together through it all and became each otherβs rock. The day of the styled shoot happened to be on Hannahβs birthday so the two decided it would be a fun way to spend a pandemic birthday!
The Details
Evelyn with Epitome Papers came up with her own art for the invitations, menu cards, and bar menu.Β
Linen Effects brought the design together with linens, chairs, tableware, and centerpieces that added a touch of texture and color.Β
The Food & Cocktails
To fit the theme, the food needed to be just as beautiful and artistic as the details! AβBriTin Catering created amazing hors dβoeuvres and literally took their presentation to the next level by displaying the food on the swing buffet. They also created fun cocktails!Β
The Desserts
And whatβs for dessert? Kevin with MN Ganache went above and beyond to create a beautiful assortment of desserts, including pomegranate rose mousse on pistachio cake and blackberry sage tarts with kaffir lime curd that were almost too stunning to eat! Almost.
