Laura and Erik had their intimate, summer wedding at Aster Cafe. Their ceremony took place under the Shasta Tent by the cafe. Since Minneapolis is their city, it was so important for Laura and Erik to highlight it on their wedding day. Aster Cafe is near the river so we got plenty of photos with the city skyline in the background. Since they chose to have a smaller wedding, Laura and Erik decided not to have a wedding party. But they did want to have special ways of including their parents. Erik’s dad, who is a pastor, officiated the wedding. For their cake topper, they used the same cake topper that was on Laura’s parents’ wedding cake forty years ago!

How They Met

Erik’s friend worked out at the same gym as Laura. One night, Seth told Erik about Laura- that she was chatty, went to the gym regularly, was positive during workouts, and had done an “Ironman”. That’s all Erik needed to know. Seth direct messaged Laura on Instagram, asking if she was single and if yes, that there was someone he thought she should meet.
After exchanging a few messages, Erik and Laura decided to meet at Steel Toe Brewery. One of Laura’s best friends (Theresa) happened to being spying on them from the next table over. Laura sat with her back to Theresa and Erik never caught on that the table next to them was trying to keep their cool.

Their second date was a run around Lake Bde Maka Ska. By the third date, they both knew this was going to be something special.

The Proposal

Laura was hoping for a Labor Day proposal, and was disappointed when it didn’t happen. Little did she know, Erik and her mom were planning to make the following weekend special! They couple went to Laura’s parents’ house. Her parents live on Lake Minnewashta and they decided to go for a sunset cruise on the pontoon. After parking the boat, Erik got down on one knee and popped the question. Laura started screaming and his her face in her sweatshirt while Erik cried. He finally managed to get out the question and Laura responded with, “Of course!”
