This engagement session is extra special because Yoon-Ah is one of my former studio office assistants, and a dear friend. I’ve known her for years, and I’ve even photographed her and George before for a fun styled shoot.
So when I heard that she and George got engaged after ten years together, I was over-the-moon excited for them. And when they asked me to photograph their engagement portraits, I felt truly honored!
There’s something incredibly meaningful about photographing people you love and adore. You already know their energy, their humor, their connection, and watching Yoon-Ah and George’s love unfold in front of the camera brought all the extra magic to this engagement session.
GOLDEN HOUR AT COMO PARK
We kicked off the evening at Como Park in St. Paul, MN, surrounded by soft breezes, natural beauty, and the kind of golden hour light photographers dream about. The timing was perfect – warm, glowy, and serene.
Yoon-Ah and George started in a casual dress look that fit the natural scenery. Their laughter came easily, and every portrait showed off the pure joy these two when they are together.
FORMAL NIGHT PORTRAITS
Then came the outfit change, and wow – these two understood the assignment!
Yoon-Ah and George stepped out in sleek black formal attire, instantly shifting the vibe into something more elegant, modern, and editorial.
We headed to the water by Dock & Paddle, where the setting night sky and reflections created a cinematic backdrop.
THAT'S A WRAP
To wrap up the night, we made our way to Como Zoo Conservatory for some dreamy night portraits. The glow of the lights, the glass architecture, and the dreamy gardens all came together to create intimate, romantic, and timeless portraits.
Night portraits have a way of slowing everything down, and for Yoon-Ah and George, it was the perfect ending to a perfect engagement session.
I’m so grateful these two trusted me to capture this chapter of their love story. Seeing their relationship grow, deepen, and shine over the years has been incredibly special, and I’m just so happy to celebrate them!
