If you’re looking for a unique, historical Saint Paul wedding venue, check out St. Paul College Club. This historical mansion was purchased from the Federal Government in 1848 by William A. Woodward. Minnesota did not become a territory until 1849 so this property dates to the earliest days of our state. In 1872 it was subdivided and in 1914, two and one half lots were sold to Henry G. Allen and his wife, Ruth. The Allens designed the plans for a 39 room Georgian Revival house with architect Thomas Holyoke. The house and carriage house were completed in 1916. In 1927, the Archers purchased the house and lived there for over 20 years. They added on a new master bedroom and bath which is now called the Bride’s Room. An octagonal room was built for Mr. Archer’s gun collection which is now the library. In 1949, the St. Paul Branch of the AAUW purchased the home from Doris Archer. The house now has 25 rooms, 10 baths, and 7 fireplaces. The home is now an event venue and is perfect for Saint Paul couple looking to say “I do!” There are multiple ceremony sites including the private garden, the living room, and the Great Hall (also the perfect spot for the wedding reception). St. Paul College Club also offers onsite catering and is one of the few venues that allows couples to bring in their own alcohol. They also invite couples to decorate the way they envisioned their wedding to be! They offer experienced staff to assist couples in any way with decorating and through the planning process.
