Fall Wedding | Holiday Inn & Suites Lake Elmo | Minnesota Wedding Photographer

Amy and Dan both love the fall season so it only made sense for them to have a fall wedding! But before we talk about their big day, let’s rewind to how they first met! Back when Amy was a graduate student at University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, and Dan was at University of Wisconsin Stout. The two hit it off after being invited to a game and trivia night. The two hit it off right away, and as they put it, “the rest is history” which eventually led to a cold March day in Eau Claire. Dan brought Amy back to the park where they had their second date. They returned to the spot where they had had their first kiss, and Dan got down on one knee and asked Amy to be his “person forever”. Amy said yes!

When planning their wedding, there was no question about where they would say “I do.” They chose Grace Lutheran Church in Saint Paul, the church Amy grew up attending. Since the church is like a second home to Amy, and the congregation like an extended family, it only made sense to get married there. When Amy first brought Dan to visit the church, he immediately noted the welcoming, friendly atmosphere. With a November wedding, the couple definitely wanted their guests to have that same warm feeling. To make the ceremony even more personal and unique, Amy chose to walk down the aisle to Moonlight Serenade. Being a jazz fan and musician, Amy couldn’t envision the day without jazz numbers playing during the ceremony at the church and reception at The Pavilion at Holiday Inn & Suites Lake Elmo. Other unique aspects of their day include the couple’s unique wedding dessert choice. It’s a tradition in Amy’s family to serve Kransekake for special occasions including weddings, baptisms, confirmations, and graduations. For those unfamiliar with this Scandinavian dessert, it’s formed with tiers of ring cakes. Another fun treat was the warm beverage bar! Guests had their choice of coffee, tea, cider, and hot cocoa along with an assortment of toppings! Thanks, Amy and Dan, for warming up these chilly, fall Minnesota days with delicious drinks, big smiles, and lots of love!
