After fourteen years of dating, Danika and Blake got married at Round Barn Farm in Red Wing, Minnesota. These high school sweethearts are from El Segundo, California and met in their school’s marching band. They spent hours talking on the phone, and Blake eventually declared his love via AOL Instant Messenger. Since these two have been together for so long, they couldn’t wait to tie the knot! Many of their friends and family were traveling from out of state, and Danika and Blake couldn’t wait to show them a slice of Minnesota. They chose Round Barn Farm as their venue because they loved the outdoor ceremony site and the unique features of the round barn. Their ceremony was full of special moments including Danika walking down the aisle to a song her dad wrote, their officiant reading advice from close family and friends instead of Bible verses or poems, and the exchange of their own vows. I’m so glad I was able to witness this wonderful couple finally tie the knot!
In August of 2017, Blake told Danika to pack a bag. She did so, wondering if Blake was planning a proposal. After fourteen years together, a proposal was to be anticipated after all. Blake assured Danika it was not a proposal, just a fun trip for the two of them before Danika began her last year of grad school. They went up north (way up north!) to George Crosby Manitou State Park. They went for a midnight hike and then set up their campsite. Blake continued to convince Danika it wasn’t a proposal trip. He even grabbed glasses and Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider, and said, “I am going to propose…a toast!” They talked about their relationship and how well they worked together. When Danika’s cup needed a refill, she said she wanted more cider. Knowing this was his opportunity, Blake said, “You know what I want more of? Days with you.” Danika then joked, “What are you going to do-propose or something?” And that’s exactly what Blake did! Danika said yes!
