If you have never had a macaron before, then you are missing out! A French macaron consists of two meringue-based cookies sandwiched together with buttercream or ganache. This delicious treat can be made in a variety of flavors, and you can never have too many. Drooling yet? Us too! So why are we talking about macarons? Because we love seeing these confections at weddings, and any event, honestly. Which is why we’re featuring the talented Nikkolette with Nikkolette’s Macarons on the blog today to chat about macarons, incorporating macarons at weddings, and more!
How did you get into macaron making? What inspired you to turn the hobby into a business?
Nikkolette: I enjoy challenges and was made aware that macarons are extremely hard to make. They take a ton of patience, skill, and precision. I tried making them and failed over and over again. It became me against the macaron. After what seemed like an infinite number of times of trying to get it right, I finally had success! I then had a friend ask me to make macarons for an event and the rest is history! I found my passion and decided to focus on it and grow it.
What is your favorite macaron flavor?
Nikkolette: My personal favorite is the Dark Chocolate Orange. I also love the Peanut Butter Cup and Caramel Cappuccino. Or any macaron that I accidentally break and have to eat…hehe! 😉
What is your favorite way to incorporate maracons into a wedding?
Nikkolette: Macarons are such a fun and colorful idea for a wedding dessert. Added bonus, macarons are naturally gluten-free! I love how macarons look displayed on a macaron tower. They also make lovely wedding favors. We can even customize the macarons with a wedding date, initials, or a cute image with our edible printer so the ideas are endless! And if you don’t have macarons at your wedding, we also offer private macaron classes which are a great idea for bridal showers!
What’s your favorite song to get pumped for a day of macaron making?
Nikkolette: I love to listen to Meghan Trainor, Taylor Swift, and of course, Britney! Anything that’s upbeat and makes me feel like I can take on the day. I also like to listen to mytalk107.1, it’s a nice break from the news.
Engaged or not…where can people find your macarons in the Twin Cities?
