Park Ballroom Balloon Wedding, Saint Paul Wedding Photographer

Congratulations, Molly and Matthew! I had so much fun at their Church of Saint Wenceslaus church wedding and The Park Ballroom reception in New Prague, MN! Thank you for letting me be apart of your day! These two met back in July of 2012. Every summer, Matthew and 12 of his friends have a guy’s weekend up at Breezy Point Resort. That summer, Molly’s family decided to have a vacation at the same resort. As Molly puts it: “I vividly remember pulling into the parking lot and waiting for my parents to check in. I saw this group of drunk and obnoxious guys all dressed the same. My dad said, ‘I hope to God we aren’t next to those clowns.’ Sure enough, we were.” Needless to say, Matthew was a part of that group of guys. The weekend proceeded. Molly’s family and Matthew’s friends often crossed paths. Her sister sister, Katie, ended up playing volleyball with the guys and made plans to meet up with them later that night at the resort bar. Molly joined them and overheard one of Matthew’s friends say he attended Saint Thomas. Since she had gone to Saint Benedict’s, Molly went up to him and said that Saint John’s was better than Saint Thomas. This sparked a conversation between Molly and Matthew-they had attended the same college. They discovered they had a few mutual friends and continued chatting. Little did she know, Katie gave Molly’s number to Matthew. The following Sunday, he called her and asked her out on a date. Skip ahead to May 27th, 2015. While at work, Molly received a call from Matthew that their good friend was planning to propose to his girlfriend and that they had to be present. As soon as she got home, her and Matthew drove to the Aamodt’s Apple Orchard in Stillwater, MN. When they arrived, he grabbed her hand and said, “We aren’t here for Greg and Lainie’s engagement. We’re here for ours.” Suddenly, Molly was signing a contract-she had no idea what for. “We are going up in that,” he told her. He pointed to a multi-colored air balloon. Molly was so swept up in the moment and staring at the scenery that she forgot what Matthew had told her before takeoff. As Molly remembers: “There we were, floating, hanging, dangling over the St. Croix River, just about to cross over into Wisconsin and he asked, ‘Do you want to get engaged in Minnesota or Wisconsin?'” She chose Minnesota. He got down on one knee in the small air balloon basket and popped the question just as the sun was setting. Without hesitation, Molly said yes! Since they got engaged in a hot air balloon, these two wanted to incorporate a balloon theme into their wedding. The guys wore hot air balloon socks. The couple had hot air balloon champagne flutes. Their guestbook was a large canvas with a couple in a hot air balloon. The centerpieces were mini hot air balloons. They even had a balloon artist at the reception after Molly won $150 on “Dave Tank”- a bit on The Dave Ryan Show on KDWB. She had explained to the radio show that she wanted to hire a balloon artist for the wedding since her and Matthew got engaged in a hot air balloon. Dave Ryan chose Molly out of four callers as the winner! The couple wore balloon hats and props for the grand march!
