The Gardens of Castle Rock Wedding | Saint Paul Wedding Photographer

Rebecca and Ryan had their September wedding at The Gardens of Castle Rock in Northfield, MN. Rebecca had this venue picked out long before Ryan popped the question! Back when they were dating, they planned a trip to Colorado to visit a friend of Rebecca’s. While planning the trip, they decided to check out activities in the Castle Rock, CO area. Well, when Rebecca searched for Castle Rock, the beautiful outdoor garden wedding venue popped up. She couldn’t help but to click on it and instantly fell in love with the venue! Rebecca didn’t mention the discovery though until after Ryan proposed! Since the couple wanted a rustic wedding theme with minimal decor, they decided the floral and landscaping of The Gardens of Castle Rock was the perfect fit. Plus, the venue was halfway between their two families. One of my favorite details was that the couple included a tablecloth and goblets on the head table that has been a part of Ryan’s family since the 1800’s! This was the 15th family wedding that the items have been used in! How neat is that!? But let’s back up a bit! Rebecca and Ryan met while attending school at the University of Iowa. They met one evening in downtown Iowa City and the rest is history! When they started talking about engagement and weddings, Rebecca made it clear she wanted a surprise engagement. Ryan accepted the challenge! He had planned a fancy dinner at a local winery to celebrate Rebecca completing her Master’s degree. Before they went to dinner, Ryan handed Rebecca a deck of cards. He had gotten them as a gift for Rebecca from his recent trip to Las Vegas with his friends. When Rebecca opened the deck, she discovered that Ryan had drilled a hole into the deck and placed a ring on top of the Ace of Hearts. Ryan definitely succeeded in surprising Rebecca!
