It is always such a joy to team up with talented, creative wedding vendors to create wedding magic! Studio B Floral Designs planned the day and arranged this incredible vendor team. For this styled shoot, we were inspired by Minnesota’s seasons shifting from winter to spring. We wanted to celebrate the beauty of winter by using dusty blues, as well as the hope for the warmer days of spring by using warmer tones of yellow and gold. Our styled shoot was set at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake, MN. The venue recently completed a remodel of their three ballrooms, and it was an honor to get to photograph two of the updated ballrooms in all their glory!
Bride & Groom Style
Our bride model, Marie, wore a long-sleeved white lace gown with a maxi dusty blue skirt. Our makeup artist, Rachel with 139 Hair by Heidi, created a bold, romantic bridal look with a shimmery eye shadow and dark stain lipstick. The bride’s hair was curled and styled by Heidi with 139 Hair by Heidi. Studio B Floral Designs created a floral hair piece for the bride and a beautiful spring bridal bouquet of yellow, white, and dusty blue surrounded by greenery, as well as a horizontal boutonniere for the groom. The groom wore a suit from Milbern Clothing Co, complete with a gray vest and royal blue, dusty blue, and gray patterned tie.
Indoor Ceremony Site
In the Majestic Ballroom, We’ve Got It Covered draped the ceiling around the room’s wrought iron chandeliers and created a ceremony backdrop panel with asymmetrical dusty blue draping and lights in front of the venue’s floor-to-ceiling windows. A gold round arch decorated with floral and greenery centered the backdrop. Two standing gold flower stands with fresh blooms and greenery were placed on either side of the arch. The backdrop vision was completed with different sized candles in clear cylinder vases.
Wedding Reception Inspiration
For the reception, a head table was placed in front of the ceremony backdrop. A velvet blue dusty linen covered the table with a sheer dusty blue runner. Royal blue napkin linens and fresh greens were placed on white dinner plates with menus designed by Hunt Wright Design Co, who also created table numbers and a dusty blue stationery suite with floral details. Royal blue candlesticks and thin garland of greenery decorated the head table’s runner. Guest tables were decorated with white linens and dusty blue runners, as well as gold chargers. The centerpieces consisted of tall gold flower stands with yellow, light blue, and white blooms and greenery. The base of the flower stands were adorned with more greens and candles in clear cylinder vases.
Kintsugi-Inspired Wedding Cake
A cake table with royal blue linens included a metal hoop stand with a dusty blue runner and greenery. Queen of Cakes designed a stunning marble blue cake inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi – an art form where pottery is broken into pieces and then mended back with molten gold. This technique results in a stronger, more beautiful creation than the original. We think this is a beautiful way to symbolize two people joining together in marriage, mended to be stronger with each other’s love and support. It also is a representation of springtime as new life sprouts from the Earth, growing stronger after the long winter. The golden strokes throughout the cake imitate the molten gold as the dusty blue and hand-painted flowers reflect the two seasons of winter and spring.
Stone Fireplace Ceremony Site
A second ceremony site was set up the venue’s Fireside Room, a smaller ballroom with a stone fireplace. Blooms and greenery designed by Studio B Floral Designs line the fireplace with two gold trumpet flower stands framing the fireplace. Candles in clear cylinder vases with loose greens line the aisle to complete the hint of spring and outdoors within the indoor ceremony space. Guest tables in this room were designed with a clean and crisp look of white linens with a light gray runner. White lanterns spilling with flowers served as spring centerpieces and clipped blooms were placed on white plates with an elegant floral menu card.
Snowy, Outdoor Portraits
Our styled shoot happened to take place shortly after a fresh snowfall so were we able to capture outdoor portraits with our bride and groom, showcasing the magnificence of the winter wonderland surrounding the venue while our indoor spaces reflected the merge of our winter and spring seasons.
